UPDATED: SCHIP, Regressive Taxes, Sen. McCaskill, and Me

Thu Aug 02, 2007 at 09:13:36 AM PDT

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a closed-circuit roundtable discussion with Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) that focused on the upcoming vote (note:  the legislation was approved in the House of Representatives late yesterday) on SCHIP, the State Children's Health Insurance Program.

While I am absolutely dedicated to the expansion of children's health insurance - unless and until we all have universal health care - I struggle with my conscience about the way in which we will go about it.

More after the fold.

Missouri Wastes No Time in Pushing Anti-Abortion Envelope (w/poll)

Tue Apr 24, 2007 at 06:47:43 PM PDT

On Monday, SCOTUS overturned a ruling by the 8th U.S. District Court of Appeals that had previously struck down a Missouri ban on highly controversial partial-birth abortions.  The 5-4 majority stated that the decision did not inhibit a woman's constitutional right to seek an abortion.

So now you're thinking, "Gee I already knew that.  Is this really newsworthy today?"

Follow me past the flip.  It gets worse.
