Monday: How to survive your Cube
Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 05:53:18 PM PDT
Mojo Monday has been a casualty of many things, not least of which is work obligations. In honor of that, I would like to offer my observations from the Cube Wars in hopes that I can help somebody survive the ruthless office politics many suffer under.
First a brief Mojo Monday advertisement. Many of us can not contribute during the day, even if some can read an occasional diary. This (regular) feature was designed as a space where us folks can gather at the end of the day and mojo each other silly. And comment. And share. I am trying to puzzle out some way to solve a particularly vexing problem with missing daytime diaries, but I may not get to it today. Do you feel lucky? Hold my hand and let's go u p and o v e r the fold.
Mojo Monday: I'm so tired
Mon Mar 17, 2008 at 08:17:30 PM PDT
Another day of manipulating spreadsheets at work, hour after hour. Numbers and cities, dollars and numbers, sorting and filtering. Good thing I like that stuff at a basic level (order out of chaos fills some niche in my soul), but after many days of it I am getting worn out. A long drive and chores to do just cap it off. Sigh.
Skip through the wormhole with me and perk me up. (In theory only, most likely, I doubt I'll be around much to comment. I will mojo tomorrow though if I don't stay here tonight. I suggest y'all check in tomorrow and do the same.)
Mojo Monday: Tuesday edition
Tue Mar 11, 2008 at 06:26:34 PM PDT
So Monday came around, and this week I was on a road trip. 250 miles to Minneapolis, then 250 miles back.
Ever take a long, frivolous one day trip? Once I drove 800 miles to see a single concert (no extra credit for guessing who it was I drove to see.)
Hear the details of my audition, share your epic road trip stories, and MOJO MOJO MOJO each other to your heart's content.
Take my hand and let's GO! >>>
Mojo Monday: Early Bird Special
Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 04:17:07 PM PDT
I know this is earlier than the regulars like. I know I am messing with a formula that seems to work. But sometimes meatspace gets in the way of my druthers on-line. Just like Mojo Monday was born out of frustration at not getting to mojo it up with y'all because am at work during the feeding frenzy, so too the Early Bird edition is born out of needs as well. I apologize in advance. More about today's topic after the fold, as well as the boiler plate explanations for newcomers.
Today I'd like to find out how you deal with time.
Mojo Monday: What is fun?
Mon Feb 25, 2008 at 04:48:17 PM PDT
Quick intro for those unfamiliar with the ancient tradition of Mojo Monday...
Many of us cannot participate during the day, this is a chance to join the Mojo fests and get enough love so you can do tag clean up. (What other reason would you want TU for?)
Tonight I am posting a shameless plug for help in my adventure coming up in March. To find out what it is (hint is in the title) and to just relax for a spell, hold my hand and join me over the rainbow...
Mojo Monday: Tell Me ...?
Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 03:50:58 PM PDT
First off, thanks everybody for a great time last week. The Six Words challenge was admirable met. If you missed it, check out my last diary and see what we are thinking these days.
For those new to my corner of the internets, let me tell you why I do this Mojo Monday thing. Many of us are chained to a desk under the watchful eye of our corporate masters all day every day. We would love to mingle, make new friends, and influence people here at America's Blog Of Record. But we can't. This is a chance for those folks to see a diary before it slinks off the front page and have a little mojo fun.
I promise I will get to the point... right... now (continued below)
Mojo Monday: Your life in 6 words. Exactly.
Mon Feb 11, 2008 at 05:34:56 PM PDT
Family unsettled; learning, earning and yearning.
Think of it as haiku without all the complications. A friend challenged me to describe my life in 6 words. Exactly. This is the best I can do right now. How about y'all?
Another friend said:
Global disaster imminent; have fun now.
This thread is for fun and games, love and laughter, and hopefully I will learn something I did not know before. So give me a kiss and take a walk with me this-a-way -> -> ->
Mojo Monday: Sit Down and Patch My Bones
Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 09:13:05 PM PDT
It has been said, "Home is where the cat is". (Or the heart I suppose, but anything is better with a cat in it, even an old saw. Not THAT kind of saw, the kind you hear at work from people old enough to know better but they say HARDLY WORKING every day like they just wrote it. But I digress.)
Here is a Mojo thread for those of us busy with meat-life during the day so we can't join in the fray around these here parts. Even night owls, cube rats, non-US time zone people and the insomniacs among us deserve a little free mojo.
Last week I missed, so I owe y'all a big hug and a kiss this week. (xxx) Let's hold hands and talk amongst ourselves, shall we?
Mojo Monday: Narvik, John Day, Chung King Mansion and the Silver Gate
Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 06:52:15 PM PDT
Hidily-Ho, neighborinos. Today I was musing on travel. Exploring has got to be one of the strongest drives we have as human beings. From the tiniest baby to the most feeble and ancient one we all are constantly exploring. Even if it is just looking at a dust speck and pondering it, we explore until we die. Let's Mojo ourselves silly, hold my hand and let's explore together.
Mojo Monday: Even a blind man knows when the sun is out
Mon Jan 14, 2008 at 07:02:13 PM PDT
Some things don't need to be explained. As I heard someplace or other: even a blind man knows when the sun is shining, You don't need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, Never get involved in a land war in Asia, and Don't mess with a Sicilian when death is on the line.
For all those waiting to hang out and set a spell, now that the dust has cleared from another busy day at Dailykos (America's Blog of Record), step up and mojo each other to your heart's content. I like to watch people Mojo each other.
Mojo Monday: As night follows day
Mon Jan 07, 2008 at 07:29:45 PM PDT
"To thine own self be true, and it follows as the night the day thou canst not then be false to any man." Shakespeare (allegedly) said that.
"Daytime posters have all the fun and all the mojo, us working stiffs get pitiful scraps on dailykos (America's blog of record)." I (allegedly) said that.
Brave the foggy Wisconsin night and take my hand as we meander down a path of who knows what tonight. Boys and girls both, I'm not squeamish because we are all a family of sorts in here.
Mojo Monday: Some of us went to work
Mon Dec 31, 2007 at 07:06:22 PM PDT
I know it is a quasi-holiday, many here either had the day off or could gold brick all day. Due to family, work or general life obstacles many of us can't mingle here on DK during the daytime. For those who need a forum late at night after the kiddie pool is closed and dark, THIS is for you.
Mojo Monday: rest your bones edition
Mon Dec 24, 2007 at 07:10:58 PM PDT
Lovely place, this dailykos neighborhood. Lots of action and excitement, witty repartee flying back and forth, passion and bitterness, hope and fear. And some of us have to sit on the sidelines. Due to work, family, health or some otther reason we are unable to participate as actively as we would like.
My humble contribution is past the flip.
Mojo Monday: This place never closes
Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 08:26:30 PM PDT
The internet has been a boon to the insomniacs among us. When I was a lad, the TV went off the air at Midnight. Radio was an option and so were books. For novel, stimulating conversation? Not so much.
So once again, WI Deadhead humbly presents this weekly feature... Mojo Monday. More details down under, and a question about how you feel about gifts.
Mojo Monday: This is YOU time
Mon Dec 10, 2007 at 07:49:55 PM PDT
WI Deadhead productions, in conjunction with Pabst Blue Ribbon, is proud to present MOJO MONDAY. For all the cube rats, wage slaves and salary(wo)men this is your chance to hang out and chat. Many of us can't participate during the daylight hours, so pull up a mouse and introduce yourself.
Mojo Monday: Late Night Tagging
Mon Dec 03, 2007 at 09:14:44 PM PDT
Once again, for the late night crowd, WI Deadhead productions proudly presents Mojo Monday.
Not only did I work all day and miss the great stories and diaries, but I just put in another 2 hours at home fidgeting with Excel. Powerful stuff, I just need to ramp up my skills.
Mojo Monday: I saved you a seat (Poll)
Mon Nov 26, 2007 at 07:45:53 PM PDT
Welcome, glad you could join us. I know everyone doesn't have the luxury to read and comment during daylight hours, so here is your chance to join the party.
This is a chance for you to take some time for yourself after you spend the day doing all that other stuff that just can't wait. I promise some actual content and discussion after the break, won't you join us?
Mojo Monday: Daytime lurkers welcome
Mon Nov 19, 2007 at 06:54:25 PM PDT
**UPDATE** Please check back in tomorrow and give some love to the poor folks who could not make it during our little party here this evening. Hi latecomers! I saved you some cake.
As I said last week, this is for all those who are unable to chime in during the day. I know many folks are at jobs that don't allow reading and or posting, but they would like to keep engaged in this community. This is my humble attempt to give y'all a voice, feel free to use it for Mojo raves if you wish. Today's topic is gratitude. After the flip I will name some things I am grateful for, I'd love to hear yours.
